Mumbai: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has operationalised 14 new self-bag drop counters as part of its efforts to enhance passenger convenience and improve terminal efficiency. The counters have been introduced at Terminal 2 and are designed to support faster baggage check-in for departing passengers.

Airport officials stated that the self-bag drop facility allows travellers to place their checked baggage on designated counters after completing the initial check-in process. The system is expected to reduce queue time at traditional counters and support smoother passenger movement during peak travel hours.

The newly installed units are part of a broader initiative to integrate technology-driven solutions within airport operations. Similar systems are already in use at several international airports and are aimed at improving processing efficiency without altering standard security or airline procedures.

Passengers using the service are required to follow existing airline guidelines regarding baggage weight, tagging, and prohibited items. Airport authorities have advised travellers to arrive on time and follow on-screen instructions while using the automated counters.
