Mumbai: The iconic manufacturing campus of Parle Products Pvt. Ltd. located in Vile Parle (East), Mumbai, is set to undergo a major redevelopment following environmental clearance for a large commercial project.
According to official information, the redevelopment has received approval for construction on a total plot area of approximately 54,438.80 square metres (around 13.5 acres). The project involves demolition of 21 existing structures, including old industrial units, office premises, and ancillary buildings currently located on the site.
Sources familiar with the development confirmed that the company has secured the commencement certificate from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), allowing construction activity to begin. Environmental clearance has been granted by the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Maharashtra, after review of the project proposal.
The redevelopment plan includes the construction of multiple commercial buildings, along with parking towers and support facilities. Once completed, the project is expected to create a built-up area of approximately 1.90 lakh square metres, significantly transforming the landscape of the Vile Parle industrial belt.
Environmental authorities have stated that the clearance was granted following standard assessment procedures, including environmental impact evaluation and compliance conditions. The company is expected to adhere to all prescribed environmental safeguards during demolition and construction phases.
The Parle-G brand, synonymous with Indian households for decades, has been one of the most recognised biscuit brands in the country. While the redevelopment marks a shift in land use, sources indicate that the move aligns with broader urban redevelopment trends across Mumbai, where legacy industrial plots are being repurposed for commercial use.
Further updates regarding construction timelines and occupancy are expected once on-ground development work formally begins.
