Mumbai: Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) leadership selection, the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced corporator Ritu Tawde as its candidate for the post of mayor. The decision was taken during a party meeting held in Mumbai in the presence of senior leaders and elected representatives.

At the same time, Shiv Sena has nominated corporator Sanjay Ghadi as its candidate for the deputy mayor’s position. Party leaders stated that the nominations reflect internal consultations and organizational strategy ahead of the civic body’s leadership formation.

According to party sources, the mayoral and deputy mayor terms will align with the standard tenure under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation framework. The leadership appointments are expected to play a key role in policy coordination and civic administration across Mumbai.

Political observers note that the mayoral contest remains significant as Mumbai’s municipal body continues to address urban infrastructure, governance, and public service delivery.
