In a significant initiative aimed at empowering w o m e n , t h e N a v i Mumbai Municipal Cor- poration (NMMC) has es- tablished free legal aid centres for economically weaker and needy women at two locations - Belapur Bhavan in Sector 11, CBD Belapur, and the Di- visional Office in Sector 3, Airoli.These centres, operated by NMMC's So- cial Development Depart- ment, will offer legal ad- vice and guidance to women dealing with do- mestic violence, financial hardships, and other fam- ily-related issues.The ini- tiative is focused on sup- porting women from un d e r p r i v i l e g e d b a c k- g r o u n d s w i t h i n t h e NMMC jurisdiction by providing them with free a c c e s s t o l e g a l counsel.The NMMC has urged eligible women to make use of this facility. Those seeking assistance can visit the Social Devel- opment Department at the 1 st floor of Belapur Bhavan or the ground floor of the Airoli Divi- sional Office to receive guidance from the legal aid centres."The move is part of the civic body's broader effort to ensure s o c i a l j u s t i c e a n d strengthen support sys- tems for vulnerable women in the city," said an official from NMMC.
