The Brihanmumbai Munic- ipal Corporation (BMC) has floated plans to demol- ish and reconstruct seven dilapidated bridges — including three vehicular bridges and four footover bridges in the western suburbs’ Kandivali and Malad areas. The project is estimated to cost nearly Rs 33 crore, and is slated to be completed over two years. According to civic officials, all the bridges are situated in the R/South ward, which encompasses Kandivali, and the P/North ward, which includes Malad. Of the seven bridges ear- marked for the project, two are RCC-structures, which include 21-meter-long vehicular bridge near Appa Pada area and another vehicular bridge along Surbhi Complex near Sainagar Kandivali East. Meanwhile, the foot over bridges (FOB) proposed for the redevelopment include the 30-metre FOB near Ramnagar Chawl in Kandivali East; the FOB near Narvane Transit Camp as well as the foot over bridges along Gavdevi Road and Hanuman Nagar’s Mahalakshmi dairy farm.
